Historic ancestral region in feudal times, with its forts, cities and medieval castles, the great wines of Bordeaux and Bergerac, its gastronomy.

We cannot leave out Agen with its artificial and natural waterways. They served as the geographical frontiers as well as being a vector of prosperity.

The Canal Latéral of the Garonne, 193 kilomètres in length between Toulouse and Castets en Dorthe, was dug inn the 19th century by thousands of navvies armed with only picks and shovels. It prolonged the Canal du Midi to create the Canal des Deux Mers which links the Mediterranean to the Atlantic Ocean.

In love with its river, Toulouse has protected its banks and quays. The quays have been a protected site since 1943.

The Embouchure basin is the rallying point for three canals the Canal du Midi, the Canal de Brienne, the Canal Latéral. The Ponts-Jumeaux allow the entry of the water of these canals into the basin. A famous fresco in marble represents the junction of the water on one side from Occitania and on the other an allegory to the Garonne.

Stroll through and discover the pink city by bicycle and at your pace. You can thus profit from the tow paths with flank the Canal du Midi and the Canal de Brienne. The banks of the Garonne offer some beautiful walks along this river so dear to the Toulouse inhabitants' hearts.
